Urgent Call to Donate Blood

Thalassemia and genetic blood disorders, cancer patients, kidney failure, and other patients suffer from a lack of blood units, especially rare blood types, and as a result of the current conditions that our country is going through due to the Corona pandemic (Covid-19) in most countries of the world – which we ask God Almighty to spare our country this fatal disease – These patients are affected by the state of quarantine or curfew, and here the suffering increases due to lack of blood in general.
Accordingly: We direct this appeal to all fellow citizens who can donate blood, by going to the National Center for Blood Transfusion and its Researches during official working hours from 8:30 Am until 11:00 PM from Saturday to Thursday; to donate blood and save the lives of the patients ..!

Conditions for donating blood

• That the donor holds an identity card.

• At least three months have passed since his / her last donation.

• The donor should be healthy and fit and not suffer from any infectious or chronic diseases.

• The donor should have slept enough time before donating at least (6 hours).

• The donor should not take any medications or sedatives 3 days before the donation.

• The donor should be between (18-55 years) for men and (18-50 years) for women.

• The donor should eat a fat-free snack before the donation.

• The donor’s weight should be more than 50 kg.

• The donor should refrain from chewing Qat 12 hours before donating, and smoking one hour before and after donating.

• A woman can donate at times other than pregnancy or her period (The menstrual cycle PMS) .
