The National University, in coordination and cooperation with the National Center for Blood Transfusion and Research and the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Patients, today, Sunday, 12/27/2020, an awareness campaign on the dangers of thalassemia and genetic blood breakdowns and ways to prevent them, in the presence of a number of academics and students.
For his part, Dr. Mukhtar Ismail, Director of the Center for Thalassemia Patients’ Care and Genetic Blood, an educational speech in which he addressed the definition of the disease, its causes, methods of spread and how to prevent it, calling on attendance to conduct an early pre-marital medical examination. To avoid contracting these chronic diseases, he thanked the efforts of the university presidency and those in charge of the event for their outstanding roles and their keenness to communicate this message as much as possible …!
Dr. also stressed. Fathi Sherwan, head of academic affairs at the university, stressed the need to raise awareness of the seriousness of these diseases, and this will only happen with the cohesion of various groups of society. Ahmed Abu Talib, Head of the Nursing Department, during his speech, indicated that the reassuring thing is that these diseases can be avoided by pre-marital examination, unlike other diseases that a person cannot avoid.
On the other hand, Dr. Osama Dabwan, responsible for academic affairs, to the attendees, to make their permanent and continuous mission until death is awareness of wherever they go and with any people sitting with them. Abdul Quddus al-Katib, Director of Public Relations, stated that there is a charity bazaar held today, and a voluntary blood donation campaign for patients with thalassemia and genetic blood disorders will be held on Monday in the university square.
