22 Awareness and Blood Donation Campaigns at the Beginning of this Year
The first quarter of the year 2024 AD witnessed an effective launch in the field of awareness and health education about the dangers of thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders and ways to prevent them.
The Yemeni Society for Thalessemia and Hereditary blood patients (YSTH) worked with the relevant authorities and educational and academic institutions to hold awareness lectures for students. The lectures aimed to enhance prevention and to spread awareness of the importance of early examination and medical consultation before marriage. The number of these campaigns reached 16 awareness campaigns that were distributed among the following entities:
‘The Local Water Corporation , Al Waad Foundation , Al-Hikmah University , The Yemeni University, The University of Yemen, The Modern Sciences University, The Yemeni- Jordanian University , the Lebanese University, Al -Sadara Collage , Al-Razi Institute, The University Institute ,Tamkeen schools , Al-Jazeera schools”
These lectures were followed by 6 voluntary blood donation campaigns for patients with thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders and other patients dependent on blood transfusions.
For its part, the association’s administrative body expressed its deep thanks to all cooperating parties, and also its pleasure with such work activates that would contribute to reducing the spread of these chronic genetic diseases and securing a stock of blood and its derivatives for patients in need.
