On their International Day … Thalassemia and genetic blood disorders … call on humanity to stand with them …!

Yemen Society for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders revived on Friday 15 Ramadan 1441 AH / May 8, 2020, an electronic campaign on the occasion of the International Thalassemia Day, which falls on May 8th of each year, coinciding with the launch of the same campaign by Thalassemia International Federation of and similar associations and unions in the world on social media platforms from homes; As a result of the extremely difficult circumstances in light of the spread of the Corona Virus pandemic ( Covid-19 ) in the world ..!

On the occasion of this day, which is a profound humanitarian milestone, which we recall the pain and suffering of a wide range of children in our country – and indeed the whole world – we cannot help but express our deepest dissatisfaction. Due to the lack of the necessary means to continue providing medical services to our sick children, who suffer the ravages of chronic disease throughout their lives.

Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders Centers in the capital, Sana’a and Hodeidah, are among the most important bodies that take care of the children of this grieving group and provide them with free medical services for twenty years, but they suffer from an unprecedented shortage in this period in the lack of basic and necessary medicines for patients, in addition to A complete absence of the budget for the two centers, which may force of us to close the doors to patients whose families most suffer from extreme poverty, lack of income and poor living.

This is what the concerned authorities and organizations in our country and businessmen must pay attention to the urgent needed of patients with thalassemia and genetic blood disorders, to save them with the required needs and to provide the necessary support so that the patient care centers continue to provide their services.

The main administration of the Center in Sana’a also issued – from time to time – appeals for help to fellow citizens about the necessity to donate blood for patients with Thalassemia and genetic blood disorders and other patients, at the National Center for Blood Transfusion and its Researches in the capital Sana’a – south of the Al Sabeen for Motherhood and Childhood Hospital because They live on regular blood transfusions forever.
