The Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Genetically Dysfunction Patients launched its 11th annual campaign to raise awareness about the risks of thalassemia and hereditary blood diseases and ways of preventing them, which will continue during the period from 5/3/2018 to 31/4/2018.

The annual awareness campaign was launched under the generous patronage of the New Generation Group and in cooperation with the Education Bureau of the Municipality of Amman and the People’s Educational Zone.

The event, which was held at the Salem Al-Sabah Secondary School for Girls under the slogan “Do not be tired of six Habayeb” coincides with the International Mother’s Day which falls on March 21 of each year.

During the event, which included many artistic, awareness and cultural activities, the Director of the Center for Thalassemia and Genetics Care, Dr. Mukhtar Ismail, confirmed the continuation of the association and the Center in the field of awareness of thalassemia and hereditary blood diseases.

The Director of the Center called on students to expedite the procedure of medical examination and counseling before marriage, explaining that the mother is more than bear the consequences of thalassemia and hereditary blood diseases in the future.

For her part, the representative of the Ministry of Education and the Director of the Department of Education and Health and Environmental Education A / Najwa Ahmed Qanba thanked the efforts of the Association in the fight against thalassemia and genetic blood diseases.

At the end of the event, the Director of the Center, along with the follow-up officer and member of the administrative board of the Association, Mr. Saleh Al-Osaimi and the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abdullah Al-Jadai, honored the Director of Salem Al-Sabah School, Najat Al-Najjar, the school’s activities coordinator, In recognition of their efforts in making the event a success.
