Awareness campaign accompanied by a blood donation campaign for patients with thalassemia and sickle cell anemia
Coinciding with 19th June International Sickle Cell Anemia Day,under the slogan (standing with them relieves their pain), under the auspices of the National Center for Blood Transfusion and Research, in cooperation with the German College of Medical and Technical Sciences, YSTH carried out an awareness campaign on the risks and prevention of thalassemia and sickle cell anemia on 30/06/2019.
The campaign targeted a number of students of the German College, who expressed their interaction with the campaign and the need to educate the community and stand together to avoid the incidence of such chronic diseases.
For his part, Mukhtar Ismail, Director of the Center for the Care of Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Patients, held a lecture on the dangers of these diseases and the causes of their spread and methods of prevention. This will only be achieved by enhancing the community awareness of the need for early examination before marriage, especially among young people.
