The Assembly celebrates the International Day of Thalassemia in the Garden of the Seventy in Sana’a
The Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Genetically Dysfunction patients celebrated the 8th International Day of Thalassemia in May 2017 in a speech and art event under the slogan “Their health, the health of a homeland” in the 70th garden in Sana’a.
The celebration was organized under the auspices of Sabaafon Mobile Company, in the presence of the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mr. Al-Sayed, and a number of officials, doctors, representatives of SabaFon, and those interested in childhood and genetic blood diseases.
During his speech, the President of the Association, Dr. Ahmed Shamsan, welcomed the attendees, particularly the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, lauding the efforts of the Ministries of Public Health and Social Affairs to serve thalassemia patients and genetic blood.
Shamsan explained that during the year 2015-2016, the Yemeni Society was able to expand its health services and to allocate a center for the care of Thalassemia patients and genetic blood as a result of the increasing number of patients in the diagnostic clinic established in 2005.

He added that the society is still facing many difficulties and challenges that hinder its work and humanitarian mission, the most important of which is the lack of availability of essential medicines and medical supplies and solutions. He also praised the role of the leading telecommunications companies in Yemen in supporting the cause of Thalassemia patients and genetic blood, in particular the sponsor of the event.
We appeal to all international and local organizations concerned with health and childhood to speed up the rescue of Thalassemia patients and the genetic blood fractures through the provision of medicines and medical supplies and support the efforts of the National Blood Transfusion Center and its research in providing safe blood for patients
He called on concerned parties in the country to activate the law of compulsory medical examination before marriage for a safe and free childhood.
For her part, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor stressed the continuation of its support and adoption of the cause of Thalassemia patients and genetic blood and work to provide medicines and medical supplies for them.
At the end of the celebration, which was interspersed with many artistic paragraphs, the President of the Society honored the sponsors of the event and a number of supporting bodies, employees and employees of the Association.
