Together … towards societal awareness of the seriousness of chronic diseases

The Student Affairs Department at the University of Science and Technology held today, Tuesday 21/1/2020, in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University, the fifth festival to raise awareness of thalassemia and genetic blood disorders, cancer and malaria.

During the festival which participated by lecturers from anti-malaria program in Ministry of Health and Al-Hayat Breast Cancer Center, Dr. Mukhtar Ismail, Director of the Thalassemia and Genetic Blood disorders Center, presented a speech in which he reviewed the Society’s progress and its main goals to care of patients and childhood prevention from the risks of developing thalassemia and genetic blood diseases, and the Society’s endeavors to find the necessary medications and complete care and provide safe blood for patients. He also valued the university’s determined efforts to introduce genetic blood diseases and other diseases that are rampant in society, as the behavior that university has planned annually, which indicates interest in community issues and contribute to solving health problems, in the presence of several doctors, specialists, and students.

On the same level, a student Ibrahim Al-Sailami gave an awareness lecture to introduce Thalassemia and genetic blood diseases, and how these chronic are transmitted to children, symptoms, and complications, and ways to prevent them. Mr. Fayez Al-Basir, a student activities specialist at the university, stressed on the need for a permanent and continuous stand-by with patients from the children of these battered groups, who hope from us all support, care and encouragement.
