Al-Mawaddah Hospital in coordination with the Society held last Thursday, 3/5/2020, a scientific symposium “Thalassemia and Sickle cell disease, How to deal with, in different specializations? which presented by each of the president of the association Dr. Ahmed Shamsan Al-Maqrami, and Dr. Arwa Mohammed Al-Rabiee, Obstetrics and Gynecology Consultant.
During the symposium, which was attended by many doctors and consultants from various specializations, the topic was discussed extensively, explaining what these diseases are, how they are transmitted to children, the extent of their prevalence at Yemen, ways to prevent them and the suffering of patients and their families in light of the conditions that our country is going through, Dr. Ahmed said ” everyone should understand how to deal with these chronic diseases and ways to avoid them, to protect our society from its seriousness, and to create awareness to protect the community from all health damages”, adding: “pre-marriage test is an individual and societal necessity, and each of us must bear his responsibility towards society and contributes to making those around him aware of the seriousness of this disease that kills the lives of many of our children. “
In a related context, Dr. Arwa welcomed all attendees, she stressed the necessity of conducting a prenuptial examination to prevent infection with thalassemia and genetic blood diseases ..!

Everyone expressed their thanks and gratitude to the hospital and the association for their stay in such seminars, which enrich the medical side with useful information, hoping to hold more seminars in this important aspect and to get rid of these chronic diseases.
