Honoring the Minister of Health for His Excellency in permanent standing with Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders.

On Tuesday 9/15/2020, the Minister of Public Health and Population, Prof. Taha Ahmed Al-Mutawakel, during the visiting of the President of the Society, Dr. Ahmed Shamsan Al-Muqrami, and the General Director of the Society Mr. Jamil Ali Al-Khayati to the minister’ office at the Ministry of Public Health and Population.

It is worth noting that the Minister Al-Mutawakel is one of the few ministers who understand health and societal issues and chronic diseases, and those who have worked hard to serve patients with thalassemia and genetic blood disorders since he assumed this position, and even contributed greatly to improving the health aspect of patients by supporting the health care services in the center and health facilities.

For his part, His Excellency the Minister thanked for this honor again the promise of continued support, affirming his continuous endeavor for the benefit and safety of patients and alleviating their suffering, saying: “When I visit any hospital or medical center I find blood transfusion patients, and this is suffering for the patients and their families, and there must be solidarity. Efforts to provide a government center to take care of the children of this group afflicted with these chronic diseases …!

The president of the association, Dr. Al-Muqrami expressed his deep thanks and gratitude for the tireless efforts made by His Excellency the Minister, hoping for the competent authorities to issue a law mandating pre-marriage examination, in accordance with the Public Health Law and its implementing regulations, so that the marriage contract is not concluded until after the safety of one of the parties to the marriage is confirmed. Which will reduce the number of births with hereditary blood diseases.
