Blood Donations .. Save Child’s Life

Saba University, in coordination and cooperation with, National  Blood Transfusion and Research Center and Yemeni Association for Thalassemia patients and genetic blood, Conducted, this morning, on Tuesday, 2nd October, an awareness campaign to raise awareness of the risk of thalassemia, as well as a, campaign for voluntary blood donation for patients with thalassemia and genetic Blood.

Director of Thalassemia and genetic Blood Care Center, Dr. Mukhtar Ismail Raised awareness of  genetic blood diseases, their transmission and ways to prevent them, stressing on the importance role of the society in raising awareness of these chronic diseases, as well, on the significant role played by universities, colleges and schools in success of such campaigns.

Dr. Ismail pointed out that “there are many people infected with thalassemia, but they do not feel that they have this disease. ” also, he explained to everyone the importance of conducting an early medical examination, a pre-marital examination; Being the only way to protect future generations from the risk of genetic blood diseases.

Vice President of Saba University, Dr. Muhammad Qais stressed on the importance of donating blood and standing with the children of this vulnerable group, who suffer from this disease and who are in dire need of that donating.

The campaign received a great response from a number of students and citizens to donate blood, calling on other groups for contributing in blood donation campaigns; many patients are in dire need of blood. General Director of the association, Jamil Ali Al-Khayati, extended his thanks and gratitude to the contributors for success of this humanitarian campaign, and primarily the Saba University administration and all its members.
