Together for children without Thalassemia
Yesterday, Saturday the 26th of June 2021, on the occasion of the international day of the sickled anemia, the 19th of June, was the day in which the students of the medical labs section at the medicine collage, Sana’a University with the cooperation with the YATH commenced an initiative called ” We Care”. They had an awareness activity that identified and clarified Thalassemia and Anemia and how to prevent ourselves from their dangerous effects.
Prof. Al.Qasem Abbas, the head of the university, Prof. Hasan Al.Mahbashi, the dean of the medicine collage and Prof. Lotfi Al.Maqtari, the hematology prof. and the initiative head took place in this activity.
Among all the activity items, there was an awareness piece of speech delivered by Mr. Saleh Al.Osaimi, a member of the association administrative staff. As a father of infected children, Mr. Saleh clarified how this infected group of people suffer from such kind of disease and how hardly they can get the blood bottles. Additionally, Mr. Saleh referred to the importance of donating blood for this wounded group of people and also all those who are really in need to the blood transferring. Mr. Saleh concluded his speech with the emphasizing on the importance of the pre-marriage blood test, to avoid getting effected by such a disease.
On the other hand, Prof. Al.Qsem motivated those who are concerned with authoring the university curriculums to insert new information related to Thalassemia and sickle anemia, to make the students more knowledgeable of such disease and how to prevent themselves from these diseases. He also emphasized on the importance of the pre-marriage blood test.
At the same level, there was a blood donating initiative held today, Sunday June 27th, at the collage yard. Mr. Al.Maqtari, the head of the initiative, said that we all have to take parts to feel the responsibility towards such a group of people, referring that the blood donating initiative is also taking place tomorrow, Monday June 27th, at the collage yard and entitled by ”Children without Thalassemia ” Prof. Al.Maqtari withes that we all side by side gather all the efforts to make the initiative completely successful.
Mr.Jameel Al.Khayyati, the general manager of the association, appreciated all the efforts put by all to spread the awareness of the dangers resulted by such chronic diseases. Mr. Jameel also emphasized on the importance of the pre-marriage blood test, as well as the blood donating for the patients of Thalassemia and sickle anemia and the other diseases.
